Meet Your Kid’s New Favorite Teachers: A Walrus, a Pirate, and Some Mathematical Monsters

Here’s everything you need to know about the fantastically fun new learning app from Encantos.

Math class would certainly be more … interesting … if the new substitute teachers were three goofy monsters named Max, Lily, and Goo, but is that really the best way to learn? After giving this some very careful thought, it’s clear that the answer is absolutely yes. And the reason is that when kids get invested in loveable characters and fun stories as part of their learning, everybody wins. That’s the philosophy behind Encantos, an awesome new app for kids that uses “storyteaching” to make learning fun.

The new Encantos app is a magical land of stories, games, videos, and songs, filled with colorful characters whose imaginative adventures bring kids along for the ride as they learn Spanish, math, geography, or life and learning skills, like how to face fears or manage anxiety.

Once the kids have finished with their monster math adventure, they may want to practice what I think we can all agree is the very best new relaxation technique: Learning how to use breathing, visualization, and communication skills from a worried Walrus named Wally. His problems are a little bit more walrus-y (I promise that’s a word) than ours might be, but Wally has trouble dealing just like everybody else, and his silly stories are a great way for kids to learn how to chill out and solve problems.

Wally, pictured here doing his very best just to focus on the positive.

You’ll also meet the hilarious Skeletina, who will help you face your fears, a swashbuckling pirate with a few lessons in collaboration and creativity to share, and some characters you probably already know from Canticos, the preschool Spanish-learning books, apps, games, and videos that we absolutely love here at CAMP.
